“It is under the greatest adversity that there exists the greatest potential for doing good, both for oneself and others.” -The Dalai Lama
The butterfly which bursts from adversity is the liveliest of all. Whenever you are going through hard times in life, just remember that a caterpillar transforms into a butterfly after weeks of being stuck in a cocoon. Having to deal with an unfortunate event will teach you more than a pleasant one. It encourages you to dig deep for solutions and unleashes the potential within your soul.
The art of resilience
When you face an unpleasant situation, you get the impulse to get out of it as soon as possible. If you act on that impulse, it will set you off on a journey of improvement. In a life full of adversities, you need resilience to recover. When difficulties knock you down, there are two options; you either remain on the ground, or you stand up.
Which one would you choose? If you remain sitting, you will resent yourself for not standing up, and if you decide to stand up, it’s going to take a lot of strength. Neither of them seems appealing, but have a look at the bigger picture. Ten years from now, would you rather be stuck on the ground or cross the finish line?
Well, sitting will freeze you in one spot, and you won’t be able to move forward. But if you stand up, there is only one way to go. You just have to walk ahead and keep going no matter how many times the wind knocks you down. And that is resilience – to come out with your mentality intact after all the adversities.
Unlock your potential
Be the locksmith of your potential. It is up to you to fashion a key that can unlock your potential in the face of difficulty. With every difficulty comes an opportunity for you to prove your worth. However, proving your worth is not as easy as it seems because not only will you have to work hard for it, but you will also have to work even smarter.
It’s now obvious that working smart yields just as many results as hard work. You have to search for a loophole in the system that will let you take advantage of it. Whatever challenges you’re facing, even if it is at your work or home, lead your way out of it. You might even surprise yourself by becoming strong enough to overcome it.
Revive your spirit
Adversities mold you to be a more refined version of yourself, the way a fire is needed to mold iron into a sword. It prepares you to come out unscathed in the end so that you can persevere through any events that might come your way. You become sharper and sturdier, just like a sword.
The difficulties in your life may threaten to break your spirit. Whenever you are on the verge of losing hope, remember that no storm lasts forever. And this too shall pass. That clear sky is just around the corner, you just have to wait for the clouds to clear. Adversities come and go, but they are not here to stay.
