“People take different roads seeking fulfillment and happiness. Just because they’re not on your road doesn’t mean they’ve gotten lost.” -The Dalai Lama
The path for everyone in life is different. Some may go down the road most traveled, or some may take the road less traveled. No matter what the road is, it leads to the same destination. Happiness is the agenda behind every step we take. The only thing to do is find ways to reach it.
Explore the labyrinth
In a maze with only one exit and various paths leading to it, some might take the quick route, while others might be more interested in taking the long way to reach the door. If someone is on a different path from yours, don’t think they are walking down the wrong lane or getting lost. They could just be following their heart’s direction to seek fulfillment and happiness.
Many would aspire to go to college and some would try their hands at being an entrepreneur. One way is the most traveled whereas the other is a fairly uncommon path. It doesn’t mean you’re wrong for going to college or making a job for yourself. They are just two different paths leading to the same destination.
Some might think you are lost and question your choices, and sometimes you doubt yourself on the path you took. But it does not mean you should turn back and undo the progress you have made. You should keep walking to find the way out if that’s what you want to do. After all, you are not lost.
The road less traveled
We find comfort in taking fewer risks and following the path paved by others. Whether it is a career or lifestyle choice, we tend to look up to the safest one proven to work. But the traffic is heavy on roads traveled by all. When you are wondering which path to take, you might be inclined to weigh the pros and cons of the familiar and unfamiliar roads. While it may help you decide, the best way to determine your path is by listening to the directions from your heart.
Maybe you were told that after high school, college was the next step. But did you really want to go to college or was it something that was expected of you? If you want to do something else instead of going to college, seek other alternatives. So what if the road you seek is deserted and less traveled? Well, there is no saying how the journey will be, but one thing is for sure – if the destination is clear in your mind, all you need is the determination to make it through the trip. You don’t have to conform to the general notion. If you want to deviate from conformity, you are free to do so.
Pave the way
A deserted path does not necessarily mean it is unfit for travel. No one may have explored it yet, or maybe those who did gave up untimely. You will never know until you take the first step. So, embrace the challenges that might come your way. It is unknown what could happen, and that is the beauty of it.
Once you have traveled it, you can be the judge of the trial. You might as well be the one to pave the way for others, leaving a newly found track. And somewhere down the line, it will become the road more traveled.
